"He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me, scatters."
In our lives, everything that we do takes us one step closer to God or one step further. To remain neutral is a lie.
This whole existence here on Earth, I like to think of as our time in utero for eternity, right? If you think about a baby in the womb for nine months, that time in the womb, that baby is oblivious to anything outside of the womb. It thinks that the womb is its world, and it gradually becomes more and more aware that the exterior world exists. It begins to start hearing his mother's voice. It begins to start seeing blurs of life through the barrier.
I think that that's such an incredible image for our lives here on Earth, because we start out completely oblivious. And then as we're taught, and as we begin to hear the voice of God, as we begin to see his fingerprints all over creation, we begin to understand that there is something else on the other side of the veil.
And our lives here on Earth are not the point. The point is eternity, because that is forever. This ends, just like the baby's time in utero. The choices we make here on Earth in this lifetime, the people that we become, directly impact our eternal life. With every choice that we make, we are inching closer in one direction or another to the person that we eventually become.
So do we want to become people that are like Christ? Do we want to become people that when others see us, they see God in us? Or do we not want that? Again, every choice we make takes us closer or further away from that.
Practical takeaway is, be very conscious of every moment, and do not take any of these moments for granted. And to be attuned to the way every choice impacts who we are becoming.
So let's pray. Lord, thank you for our lives. Thank you for giving us the breath of life, Lord. Thank you for creating us. Thank you for inviting us to spend eternity with you and to begin to live that eternal life here on Earth. Thank you for the glimpses of light that we see through the veil. Thank you for letting us hear your voice. Help us, Lord, to become the people that you destined us to be, to become the best versions of ourselves. And we pray all of this in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
All right, everybody. Get out there and make it the best day ever.
Your brother on the journey,
Nick De La Torre
